Beijing runs on two wheels

Due to the rapid urbanisation of the city, Beijing is a metropolis where traffic jams are everywhere. It’s amazing to think that in this city that has undergone rapid urbanisation, people have abandoned the tradition of raising pigeons and the bicycle to move in a Buick or an Audi.

On the positive side, the government has imposed quotas on auto sales. Nevertheless, the city is the dream of cyclists, long as you know the rules of cycling and are willing to astray. Despite increasing rates of smog, ride a bike is an original way to explore Beijing.

Most streets have bicycle exclusive channels (which in Chinese is called zi ching che, “transport driven by himself”). Cycling in the capital has many advantages, as they are practical, economical, ecological and can pass easily through traffic. Cyclists can enjoy the sights, sounds and smells that a driver or a subway passenger can not experience.
