The Statue of Liberty inside

The Statue of Liberty is one of the most amazing monuments in the world. Located on Liberty Island, the neo-classical sculpture of the Roman goddess of liberty, freedom, torch in one hand and the tables of justice in the other was designed by Frédéric Bartholdi. It was given as a gift of the French people to the American people in 1886 as a celebration of independence from the British Crown, well represented by the broken chains at the foot of the sculpture.
